JYP’s financial result for the last fiscal year was bleak. According to Keskisuomalainen, the club’s parent company JYP Jyväskylä Oy recorded a loss of as much as 905,861 euros last fiscal year.

The figure is severe, although the trend is improving. In the previous fiscal year, the company incurred losses of about 1.3 million euros.

At the same time, JYP’s revenue grew significantly. It rose from 7.1 million euros to around nine million euros, which is the highest revenue in the company’s history.

The club’s CEO Risto Korpela sees positive signs in the situation as well.

– The record revenue is of course a positive thing, as is the fact that we managed to get JYP hockey back on track last season and the audience also found their way back to the arena. But the result, of course, indicates that expenses are too high compared to revenues, Korpela explained to Keskisuomalainen.

Despite the financial challenges, JYP is entering the new Liiga season with high expectations.

The team from Jyväskylä invested significantly in their squad over the summer and acquired, among others, world champion forward Harri Pesonen.
