In Oulu, the Kärpät team is making changes. The contract of defender Marcus Björk has been terminated by mutual agreement.
– Expectations for this season were high on both sides. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met as hoped, and together we reached the decision to terminate the contract, commented Kärpät’s sports director Kimmo Kapanen on the club’s website.
Expectations were indeed high regarding Björk. In the 2022-23 season, he performed effectively with the Columbus Blue Jackets’ NHL roster, scoring 3 goals and 8 assists in 33 games. This season with Kärpät, he totaled 1 goal and 10 assists in 47 games. His plus-minus rating was 15 below zero.
Björk will continue his season in HockeyAllsvenskan with IF Björklöven.
