Kärpät announced a contract extension: “An important piece”

Kärpät has signed a two-year extension with defenseman Kasper Soini, 23.
– Kasper is an important piece for us. Thanks to his strong skating, he can defend effectively in every area of the ice and support our attacks. He is a young and still developing player with a lot of potential to take on an even bigger role in the team, says Kärpät’s sports director Kimmo Kapanen on the club’s website.
The agile Soini has not yet fully opened his scoring account in Oulu. In 13 games, he has collected two assists, but no goals have been scored yet. The defenseman’s plus-minus statistic stands at five.
Earlier in his career, Soini also represented Jukurit in the Liiga.
