IS: Swedish power player returns to the League – here is the new team
This season, the league’s bottom team Vaasan Sport strengthens its roster with two Swedish players.
According to Ilta-Sanomat, defender Simon Åkerström and forward Kalle Östman will be seen in Sport’s jersey next season.
Åkerström, 30, who represented Ässät in the 2019-20 season, played last season in HockeyAllsvenskan for AIK, where the defender scored impressive stats of 5+32=37 points in 48 games. The 191 cm tall Swede was the second most effective defender in the entire league.
Östman, 31, has represented Leksand for the last four seasons, where the center recorded 11 points (6+5) in 41 regular season games this season. The forward, who has played the last seven seasons in the SHL, collected 30 points in his best top league season.
Sport has not yet officially announced the duo’s contracts.
