The fresh head coach of Tappara, Kari Jalonen, expressed his straightforward views on the practices of the league to Ilta-Sanomat.

Jalonen, 66, highlighted the rules regarding training in the league.

– The players’ association’s jungle of rules is completely utopian to me. I had no idea about these training bans and other things, Jalonen wonders to IS.

Jalonen refers to the fact that teams were allowed to start joint training only on August 3, which is four weeks before the start of the regular season. This rule is documented in the general agreement between the league and the players’ association.

– There are other prohibitions as well, and quite a lot has changed during my absence. Such training bans are quite exceptional. No other place has such restrictions on training, Jalonen says, comparing them to Germany, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, where he has coached in recent years.

Jalonen plans to contact the players’ association and discuss the matters with them.

– I need to familiarize myself a bit with these rule jungles and talk to them about what these are based on. But we have been following these rules and have adhered to them.
