Antti Tyrväinen, 37, is still looking for a partner. The forward who played for JYP last season tells Ilta-Sanomat that he is interested in continuing in the Liiga.

– It would definitely be interesting to play in the Liiga. I won’t be going abroad anymore. I promised that at home, Tyrväinen says.

Tyrväinen has been training with the Pelicans U20 team and assesses that he is in better shape than in a long time. The hip surgery he had before last season has eliminated the pain.

– It has been great that all the pain is gone. Nothing hurts, and I can train everything at full capacity. It feels like I am 25 years old, Tyrväinen says.

Tyrväinen, who lives in Lahti with his family, does not rule out retirement.

– Family life weighs quite a lot on the scale. And of course, the fact that I am getting older. I have thought about playing calmly, but I am in good shape. I still have the desire to play.

Tyrväinen, who joined JYP last November, had a promising season and was among the team’s best in the playoffs. However, he criticizes the Liiga’s schedule harshly.

– The Liiga’s schedule has not considered the players at all, Tyrväinen says.

– Playing on consecutive days is tough. We might be the only league in Europe that plays this way. Then they wonder why players are missing and getting injured a lot.

Tyrväinen has played 583 regular season games in the Liiga with stats of 102+120=222. He has accumulated 1,046 penalty minutes.
