HIFK dropped a big news – extension contract for the golden helmet
The Helsinki club HIFK pampered its fans on Saturday with big contract news.
The club announced that the Canadian forward wearing the golden helmet, Vincent Marleau, will continue with the team next season. The 26-year-old forward is currently playing his third season with HIFK.
Marleau has been the most effective player for the Helsinki team this season. He has recorded 36 points with 19 goals and 17 assists in 52 games and has been one of the key offensive forces for his team.
– I love being here. Helsinki and HIFK have become my second home, Marleau says in the club’s announcement.
Strong performance in the League
The Canadian forward has quickly become a fan favorite in Helsinki. Overall, Marleau has played 128 regular season games in his Liiga career, achieving impressive stats of 46 goals and 43 assists for a total of 89 points.
Before moving to Finland, Marleau made a strong impact in North America in the ECHL, where he played two effective seasons.
The news of Marleau’s contract extension was revealed first at a watch party event organized by HIFK and Finnkino at the Tennis Palace in Helsinki.
