Former Liiga goalie KHL contract terminated – aiming for NHL return
The Russian goaltender Aleksandar Georgijevin‘s KHL contract with Spartak Moscow for the upcoming season was terminated last week. Georgijev’s agent Stanislav Romanov states that Georgijev aims to return to the NHL next season.
Georgijev, 30, has played in the NHL since 2017. During the current season, he moved from the Buffalo Sabres to the KHL with a two-year contract with Spartak, where he played 24 regular season games with a save percentage of 91.8 and five playoff games with a save percentage of 91.8.
In the NHL, Georgijev has played a total of 303 regular season games and 20 playoff games. He has represented the New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, and San Jose Sharks.
Before moving to the NHL, Georgijev played in the Liiga with TPS, where he accumulated 51 games over three seasons.
