Florida pulled off two trades – NHL goalie who has played in the Liiga caught!
The reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers made two trades on Thursday.
In the first trade, the Panthers bolstered their goaltending with Columbus Blue Jackets’ Daniil Tarasov. In return, the Panthers send a 5th-round pick to the Blue Jackets in this weekend’s draft.
The 24-year-old Tarasov has played four seasons in the Blue Jackets organization. Last season, the Russian goalie played 20 NHL games with an 88.1 save percentage.
Tarasov is remembered from the Liiga season 2019-20 when he played 41 games for Ässät with an 89.9 save percentage.
Farm forward comes with a hefty price tag
Later on Thursday night, the Panthers traded forward Justin Sourdif to the Washington Capitals.
The Capitals paid a 2nd-round pick (2026) and a 6th-round pick (2027) for the 23-year-old AHL forward.
Sourdif was the Panthers’ 3rd-round pick in the 2020 draft. The Canadian forward has only played four NHL games in his career, tallying 1 goal.
Last season, Sourdif recorded 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points in 43 AHL games.
