Canadian defender Eric Gelinas is leaving Rauman Lukko at the end of the season. The club announced this on their Instagram account. Gelinas’ contract ended with this season.

Gelinas arrived in Rauma mid-season 2024–25. In his first season, he recorded impressive stats of 4+13=17 points in 21 games. In the concluded season, the Canadian puck-moving defenseman logged 24 points in 57 games.

Gelinas also made history this season by being named the first foreign captain in Lukko’s history. He mentioned that the role felt somewhat burdensome.

– I struggled with my confidence and my play at the beginning of the season. Maybe being a captain added a bit of pressure, or I put it on myself, the Canadian said in an interview published by Lukko.

Gelinas’ next club is not known at this time.
