Confirmation came: Rikard Grönborg is changing scenery
Tappara announces that head coach Rikard Grönborg will not continue with the club after the current season.
Grönborg, 57, is leading Tappara for his third and final season. In his first Liiga season, he won the Finnish championship with the club, and in his second season, the team’s journey ended in the quarter-finals. Currently, Tappara is fifth in the Liiga.
– Rikard Grönborg’s impact on the Tappara 2.0 renewal project has been essential overall. Rikard has brought his whole personality and expertise to support Tappara’s development. It is great that the entire organization is working together to achieve the best possible outcome in the ongoing league season. This is precisely the Tappara way of doing things, which is strongly documented in the club’s values; working together, Tappara’s CEO Ari Penttilä states in the club’s announcement.
– Rikard came to Tappara to carry out a clear mission. The goal of the three-year project was to renew Tappara’s ice hockey. However, the time for actual thanks and post-analysis will come later, as we currently have full focus and ambitious goals for this season. We will announce the upcoming coaching staff after the season, Tappara’s GM Janne Vuorinen commented.
