The Sports Disciplinary Board has rejected Tappara’s appeal against the decision of the ice hockey league’s disciplinary delegation. A statement on the matter was published on Thursday evening.

Tappara sought a change to the penalty imposed on its head coach. The club appealed against Rikard Grönborg’s three-match ban and the 10,000 euro fine imposed on the club.

Tappara also demanded that the league reimburse it for the committee costs amounting to over 5,500 euros.

Grönborg received the ban due to incidents in the match against JYP played at the end of February. According to the league’s disciplinary delegation, the Swedish coach had instructed his player Emil Sylvegård to attack JYP’s Antti Tyrväinen.

The situation was related to a tackle seen earlier in the same match, which escalated emotions on the ice significantly.

With the decision of the Disciplinary Board, the penalties imposed by the league’s disciplinary delegation remain in effect.
