There are concerns in JYP that Santeri Huovila may not be fit to play even by the start of next season. According to Urheilucast reports, the star forward’s knee injury could result in an absence of up to a year.

– I heard about an absence of up to 12 months. At least 10 months off, and only after that will he start rehabilitation, Esko Seppänen says on Urheilucast.

Huovila was injured last month against HIFK. His leg twisted awkwardly in an innocuous situation, and the 22-year-old forward was unable to continue the game.

Seppänen describes the severity of the injury harshly.

– My job is to bring bad news to the table. Right now, there is extreme concern in JYP about whether Huovila will recover to play by the start of next season. According to Urheilucast, everything that could anatomically go wrong in the left knee has gone to pieces. It still stings, it’s distressing, and it’s frustrating for the player himself as well as for JYP and its fans.

Before his injury, Huovila was on a strong scoring pace. In six games, he had 1+7=8 points. Last season, he collected 42 points with 5+37=42 in 33 games.

JYP started its season with six consecutive wins. However, the performance of Petri Matikainen‘s team has weakened since Huovila was sidelined.
