Oulu’s star forward Patrik Virta will be sidelined from the rink.
The 29-year-old Virta was hit in the face by the puck during the match between TPS and Kärpät last Saturday. Kärpät reports that the forward underwent surgery on Sunday.
Virta’s situation will be reassessed in two weeks during a post-surgery check-up, after which the recovery timeline will be clarified.
Before his injury, Virta was one of Kärpät’s most effective players. He has recorded 30 points (7+23) in 39 games this season.
