New information has emerged regarding the situation of JYP’s star forward Leevi Tukiainen, who was injured in the Liiga over the weekend.
According to sports director Simo Mälkiä, interviewed by MTV, Tukiainen will not be seen in action for the time being.
– He had scans this morning. Rest is guaranteed in any case, but there is still no certainty about the duration, Mälkiä commented on the situation of the point scorer who made his debut earlier in the season with the Lions.
According to Mälkiä, the nature of Tukiainen’s injury will be clarified in the coming days.
Tukiainen, 26, currently leads the Liiga’s goal scoring chart. The winger, known for one of the league’s most dangerous shots, has scored 29 goals and 44 points in 40 games.
Tukiainen was injured in a game against KalPa while delivering a counter-check to Kuopio’s power forward Teemu Hartikainen. Assisted off the ice, Tukiainen was unable to put any weight on his right leg after the incident.
