Antti Tyrväinen dismisses the rumors that circulated during the summer to MTV: “I don’t know where people got them…”
Antti Tyrväinen is currently without a team after Pelicans decided not to extend the contract of the 35-year-old club icon after last season.
The forward, who was contemplating continuing his career at that time, now says he is ready to extend his long professional career. The next destination is also being explored elsewhere in Europe.
– My wife has given me the green light to look around Europe. The kids are 7 and 9 years old. Everyday life is hectic. We are open-minded in every direction. I know that there aren’t many years left in my career, Tyrväinen admits to MTV Urheilu.
Last spring, rumors spread in the media about the forward and his brother Juhani Tyrväinen moving to the ranks of JYP, which had changed coaches to Petri Matikainen. These rumors reportedly had no basis in truth.
– They were completely false. There was nothing to it. Of course, I saw those headlines myself. My brother was even mentioned. I don’t know where people got that… my phone definitely didn’t ring from Jyväskylä, Tyrväinen assures.
Tyrväinen says he underwent surgery after the season, from which recovery will take until October-November. The forward, who has accumulated 984 penalty minutes in 551 league games, will therefore delay his return to the rink until the winter months.
