Alex Lintuniemi returns to the Liiga – here is the new team
The last five seasons in the Czech league played Alex Lintuniemi returns to the Liiga. Jukurit announced on Thursday that they have signed a one-year contract with the 30-year-old defenseman.
The 192-centimeter and over one hundred-kilogram Lintuniemi played 37 games last season for BK Mladá Boleslav with stats of 1+6=7.
– Lintuniemi brings experience and size to Jukurit’s defense. The experienced and well-traveled defenseman provides a good and easy first pass and has solid defensive skills. Alex is exactly the type of defenseman we wanted. We needed a player like him, and he wanted to come to Mikkeli, Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen says in a statement, adding that the team for next season is ready with Lintuniemi’s arrival.
Lintuniemi was drafted to the NHL by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round in 2014. However, he has not played a single NHL game.
In the Liiga, Lintuniemi has played 44 games in his career representing Pelicans and JYP.
