League players have once again voted for the best referee. The Golden Whistle award has been won for the ninth consecutive time by Antti Boman.
Despite the high regard, this season is set to be Boman’s last. He revealed earlier in an interview with Iltalehti that he was not offered an extension by the League. The reason was Boman’s age.
Before Boman, Jari Levonen won the Golden Whistle award 15 times in a row, which is an all-time record. The second most wins belong to Seppo Mäkelä, with 11.
