Something is happening again in Tampereen Tappara. After the surprising retirement of head coach Kari Jalonen, the club is preparing for a new situation in Wednesday’s match against Ässät.

Tappara announced on Tuesday that the team will play against Ässät in the first period unusually in pink jerseys.

This special arrangement is part of the Cancer Foundation’s Roosa nauha campaign, which supports Finnish cancer research.

The jerseys used in the match will be auctioned off, and the proceeds will be donated to the campaign.

– We are a community that has the opportunity to make an impact and help. We want to do our part and show that important issues can also be played for on the ice. We hope that the pink jerseys and their auction will inspire the entire Tappara family to join in doing good, Tappara’s CEO Ari Penttilä said.

Wednesday’s match is Tappara’s first home game after Jalonen’s departure. The head coach’s duties are now handled by Fredrik Norrena.
