Urheilucast reports on X that HIFK is seeking a notable reinforcement for their offense. HIFK’s sports director Janne Laukkanen has been in negotiations with two NHL-background centers.

According to Urheilucast, HIFK has been negotiating in recent days with Rem Pitlick and Logan Brown. UC suggests that the focus should especially be on Pitlick.

Pitlick, 29, has played 132 regular season games in his NHL career, recording 21+33=54 points. The American forward has represented the toughest hockey league in the world, playing for the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, and Chicago Blackhawks.

Pitlick’s most productive NHL season was 2021–22, when he collected 15+22=37 points in 66 games with Minnesota and Montreal.

Pitlick has primarily played in the AHL in recent years. Last season, he represented the Bakersfield Condors and Rockford IceHogs, recording a total of 50 points with 22+28 in 69 games. Pitlick last played in the NHL during the 2023-24 season.

The other center linked to HIFK, Brown, 28, has played a total of 99 regular season games in the NHL, recording 7+19=26 points. He has represented the Ottawa Senators and St. Louis Blues at the NHL level.

Brown’s most recent NHL game was in the 2022–23 season. Since then, he has played in the AHL. Last season, Brown represented the Ontario Reign, where he recorded 1+15 points in 31 games.

This season, neither player has played anywhere yet.
