Urheilucast: A shocking detail about Jokerit’s Teemu Turunen's salary was revealed

The Jokerit team confirmed earlier this week their attack by announcing a three-year contract with Teemu Turunen.

According to information from Urheilucasti, the offer from the Helsinki club was so strong that Kärpät or other Liiga clubs had no response to it. According to the podcast, the forward’s income level will remain practically the same in Jokerit as it was in Sweden’s SHL with Örebro HK.

Based on salary information published by the Swedish Sportlovin, Turunen earned about 180,000 euros net per season in Örebro. This amount placed him among the club’s highest-paid players.

Turunen still had a contract with Örebro for the upcoming season, but it was terminated at his own request for personal reasons.

The forward stated in Jokerit’s press release that the decision to return to Finland was made for family reasons.

– During the summer, there was a sad incident in the close circle, so as a family, we decided that now is the best time to return to Helsinki and home. Jokerit is a beloved club for me. It’s great that I got such an opportunity even this late in the summer.

Last season, Turunen played 29 regular season games in the SHL for Örebro and recorded stats of 7+7=14. In the playoffs, he registered two assists in three games.

The 30-year-old forward is now returning to his youth club. He has previously represented Jokerit in juniors and in the KHL during the 2021–22 season.

In the Liiga, Turunen has also played for HPK, HIFK, and Kärpät. Throughout his career, he has surpassed the 50-point mark three times and won the Liiga’s goal scoring title in the 2023–24 season with 30 goals.
