The league club terminated its forward’s contract – a new team has already been found!
After terminating his contract with the Pelicans, Lukas Zetterberg has quickly found a new team. The 29-year-old forward returns to Västerås IK and has signed a contract covering this season with the club.
Zetterberg’s and the Pelicans’ paths parted on Monday. Now a new address has been found quickly, as the Swedish forward returns to his youth club Västerås after spending three seasons elsewhere.
Having learned the game in Västerås, Zetterberg has played most of his professional career there. He has appeared in the VIK’s first team a total of 339 times, scoring 108 goals and accumulating 207 points.
Most recently, Zetterberg played for Västerås in the 2022–23 season. During that time, he scored 19 goals and 33 points in 52 games in HockeyAllsvenskan.
After Västerås, the forward played in Karlovy Vary and AIK before moving to the Pelicans. Last season, he scored six goals and a total of ten points in 26 games in Liiga.
