Sport captured the silver medalist of the Young Lions from another Liiga team!
Vaasan Sport announces that defender Kalle Kangas is joining the team on a two-year contract.
Kangas, 21, has represented HPK for the past two seasons. He recorded 0+5 in 51 regular season games this season and scored one goal in nine playoff games.
Kangas was part of the team that won silver with the Under-20 National Team at the World Championships in 2025.
– Kalle had a very good and upward season at HPK. He has a strong sense of his identity as a player and is an excellent penalty killer, with strengths in defensive play. He can defend in the closing moments of games and is a very important defensive defenseman for the team. Kalle is a young player with great potential to take steps forward in his career, and we believe that Kalle will become a good sheriff in the Liiga. Kalle has participated in two youth tournaments, and I have really liked how he has performed in these international games, head coach Lauri Mikkola describes Kangas in Sport’s announcement.
The 194 cm tall and 94 kg heavy Kangas is a 7th round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins from the summer of 2023.
