The Nashville Predators announced on Tuesday that they have signed a three-year NHL entry-level contract with defenseman prospect Daniel Nieminen, 20. Nieminen had a strong season with the Pelicans in the Liiga, where he recorded 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) in 47 regular-season games.

This was his second season in the Liiga.

The defenseman is also a familiar name on the national team front. He has been part of the U20 national team twice and won a silver medal at the U20 World Championships. Additionally, the 184-centimeter defenseman has represented Finland in the U18 World Championships as well.

The Predators selected Nieminen in the sixth round of last summer’s NHL Draft.
