Tampera’s head coach Kari Jalonen demands a clear change in attitude from his team after Friday’s Liiga defeat.

Tappara’s four-game winning streak was broken when Lukko took a 2–1 away victory in Tampere. Jalonen was not satisfied with his team’s performance and highlighted the offensive play and willingness to compete after the match.

– We definitely left a lot of questions about that sixty minutes. Overall, we had to spend quite a bit of time in our own zone. We defended quite well and with a big heart, but on the other end, our offensive play was lacking today in the home game. We couldn’t really create any top chances, Jalonen assessed in the press conference.

According to Jalonen, Lukko was stronger than Tappara in battle situations as well. The head coach felt that his team was not able to keep the puck in their possession enough.

– Also in terms of will, Lukko took the air out of us when we entered the zone. We should have been able to fight harder and stay with the puck, but the team just didn’t seem to have that depth.

Tappara played a CHL match in Poland earlier in the week, but Jalonen did not start explaining the subdued performance with a tight schedule.

The Tampere team does not have much time to correct its course, as they face Jukurit in Mikkeli on Saturday. Jalonen made it clear in the press conference what he expects from his players in the next match.

– The attitude needs to change within a day. That will get the offensive play in order, Jalonen stated.
