The strong start of Jukurit has made head coach Jonne Virtanen an interesting name in the coaching market. Virtanen’s contract with the Mikkeli club ends after the current season, and there is still no certainty about his future employer.

Jukurit would like to continue working with the 38-year-old Virtanen. The club and the head coach have already had discussions about a new contract.

– We have talked with Jonne and are trying to make decisions very soon, Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen tells Iltalehti.

However, Jukurit is not the only club interested in Virtanen’s services. According to the head coach, inquiries about his situation have also been made elsewhere.

– There have been inquiries, but no offers, Virtanen reveals to IL.

Virtanen is also positively inclined towards continuing with Jukurit. Regarding his next job, he has already made one thing clear: moving abroad is not an option at the moment.

– I want to be with my children more than before. Therefore, this is primarily a family decision now.

For a possible continuation with Jukurit, Virtanen has his own hopes.

– I would hope that we would have the same coaching team and continuity in the player roster.

Virtanen has been coaching Jukurit since January 2025.
