CHL match has a terrifying price – The top scorer of the league was knocked out
SaiPa’s top scorer this season Patrik Siikanen had to leave Tuesday’s CHL match after a knee check. The forward was assisted off the ice in Graz by two men.
Siikanen was left in pain on the ice after a nasty hit from Paul Stapelfeldt in the first period. The Graz player received a 5+20 minute penalty for the incident.
Siikanen has scored six goals in ten league matches this season. He shares the top spot in the scoring chart with Sami Päivärinta.
SaiPa’s concerns were compounded by Miikka Salomäki leaving the game early later that same evening. The top center had just returned to the ice after his injury.
SaiPa announced on Wednesday that there is still no detailed information about the severity of Siikanen’s and Salomäki’s injuries or their condition for Thursday’s match against JYP. For sure, Samu Bau and Samuli Niinisaari will be missing from SaiPa’s lineup.
SaiPa won Graz 3–1 and secured their place in the CHL playoffs. The team will travel back to Finland on Wednesday and face JYP on Thursday at Kisapuisto at 18:30.
