Pori Ässät has acquired experienced Swedish Carl Klingberg. A two-year contract has been signed with the 35-year-old forward.

Klingberg represented Ilves in the Liiga for the last two seasons. He moved to Tampere mid-season 2024–2025. Last season, he collected 12 points with 6+6 in 30 games. The season before, the Swede exceeded the 30-point mark.

In the playoffs, Klingberg has been particularly effective. In the spring of 2025, he scored 8 points with 5+3 in 11 games and this season, he scored 7 points with 2+5 in 13 games.

– Carl Klingberg has a truly impressive CV for a Liiga player, and I would say that players of his caliber are not often available in the Liiga. We will get a leader and a power forward in the locker room, who is very strong and dangerous near the goal. In puck battles, he is certainly one of the strongest players I have seen in the Liiga. Callen and I quickly found common ground, and we will have a top guy in our group for two seasons, says Ässät’s sports director Jarno Kultanen praising the new addition in a press release.

Klingberg has solid international experience. He has represented Sweden twice in the Olympics and three times in the World Championships. In the NHL, he has played 12 games and in the AHL, as many as 269 games. Additionally, he has five seasons of experience in Sweden’s SHL and seven seasons in the Swiss top league.

His achievements include World Championship gold from 2017 and two Swiss championships from 2021 and 2022.

At the same time, Ässät announced that forward Johan Olofsson has signed a one-year extension with the club.
