Pekka Jormakka leaves the Slovak league and returns to Finland. The forward, who spent only a couple of weeks at HKM Zvolen, tells Atleetille that he declined the extension offered by the club.

The 36-year-old Jormakka is now looking for a team in Finland closer to home. Family and value conflicts with the Slovak club weighed heavily in his decision to return.

– Now what happens is that Jormakka’s son stops chasing money and comes to where he is truly needed. That is, home, Jormakka revealed to Atleetille.

Zvolen offered the Finn an extension after a two-week short-term contract. However, Jormakka’s response was clear.

– The kids need a father. An extension was offered here, but no. The chasing after money is over!

Jormakka managed to play six games in Slovakia and recorded one assist.

The returning veteran was already linked to Liiga clubs last summer. He was reported to be an option for, among others, Jokerit.

JYP’s product last represented his youth club in Finland. Having played in several European teams during his career, Jormakka has also appeared in over 20 international matches and won silver at the World Championships in 2014.
