The top spot in the league changed – Aleksi Saarela punished his old team
The Friday round of the league offered significant turns in the battle for the top of the standings. The biggest winner of the evening was Rauman Lukko, which took the top spot in the standings by defeating TPS at home 4–1.
The star of the Raumalaisten was Aleksi Saarela, who had a strong performance with 1+2 points against his former team last season.
With their victory, the Raumalaisten climbed to the top of the standings as Jukurit fell at the same time in a top match against Ilves at home with a score of 0–3.
Ilves’ victory further tightened the standings at the top of the league. The top five teams Lukko, Ilves, SaiPa, Jukurit, and Kärpät are now only two points apart from each other.
KalPa’s loss to Kärpät meant that the Kuopio team, which has only one win in their last six matches, dropped below the relegation line.
Friday’s results:
Jukurit – Ilves 0–3
Kärpät – KalPa 5–2
Lukko – TPS 4–1
Sport – SaiPa 3–5
Kiekko-Espoo – HIFK 0–3
