Now it looked bad: Antti Raanta got injured
The lock experienced a severe setback on Saturday during the Liiga rounds, as the team’s star goalkeeper Antti Raanta injured his leg badly in the match against HPK.
Raanta’s leg was caught under his own defender Niclas Almar as he fell on top of his goalkeeper. A visibly pained Raanta was helped off the ice, and the veteran, who has had a long career in the NHL, appeared unable to put any weight on his injured leg.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper, who returned to his hometown team this season, has had an average season. Raanta, who has suffered from several serious injuries throughout his career, has played 26 games with an average goals against of 2.55 and a save percentage of 88.9.
The length of Raanta’s potential sick leave will be determined later.
