The TPS season ended last spring in the first round of the playoffs. The team from Turku lost the series to SaiPa with a match score of 2-3.

At the end of the season, head coach Tommi Miettinen was fired. The decision was surprising, as just a few months earlier, Miettinen had received a two-year contract extension.

Miettinen commented on his dismissal and his time at TPS in an interview with MTV Urheilu. His role at the former major club was anything but easy.

– It was a tough two years, that must be said. There were many things that really drained my energy, Miettinen says.

– In a way, I am proud that I kept my head and my line. That was what I was implementing there. When the contract extension was being discussed, I clearly stated at that point that the club must also give a mandate that the line chosen is a good line and that we want to continue with it.

Miettinen directly shares what kind of taste the dismissal left.

– It left a bad taste in the way that it was left unfinished. It hasn’t gone away. It left a bitter feeling, Miettinen states.

Regarding his future, Miettinen says he is in no hurry, as he still has two seasons left on his TPS contract. He is particularly interested in coaching in Sweden, where he would be willing to accept even an assistant coach position.
