HIFK’s Iiro Pakarinen became the hero for the Lions on Sunday, as Finland defeated Sweden in the final match of the Helsinki EHT tournament with a score of 3–2.

Pakarinen scored Finland’s winning goal around the midway point of the match. The forward was also involved in the Lions’ second goal by assisting Jere Innala with the equalizer at 2–2.

Finland’s power play was particularly difficult for Sweden to handle. The Lions needed only 11 seconds to score their first two power play goals.

In the first period, Mikko Lehtonen succeeded on the power play, and in the second period, it was Innala’s turn. Sweden’s goal scorers were Emil Bemström and Samuel Fagemo.

In goal for the Lions, Petteri Rimpinen had a successful start to his national team career. The goalkeeper, playing in his first international match, made 26 saves.

The victory over Sweden secured Finland three wins in the home tournament. The Lions had previously defeated Switzerland 3–1 and the Czech Republic in a shootout 2–1.
