Forward Niko Huuhtanen, 22, is a hot name in the European transfer market. Huuhtanen is currently playing in the Swiss top league for EHC Biel-Bienne.

According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, several SHL teams have inquired about Huuhtanen’s situation. The Finnish forward has been sidelined from the lineup since January 10, after he recorded modest stats of 1+1 in his first seven games.

Earlier in his career, Huuhtanen has shown he can produce results. In the 2023-24 season, he scored 19+27=46 points in 52 games with Jukurit.

Expressen reports that it is uncertain whether Huuhtanen himself is interested in moving to Sweden mid-season. He has already played in the AHL, ECHL, and Switzerland this season. A transfer to new surroundings would thus be his third of the season.
