Jukka Rautakorpi has quietly returned to the coaching market of the Liiga. According to Urheilucast, the experienced coach has informed some Liiga clubs that he will be available starting from the beginning of September.

Rautakorpi has informed the clubs that “the phone will be on from the beginning of September.”

According to Urheilucast, Rautakorpi is currently one of the options that Liiga clubs may consider if there is a need to change the head coach. He has risen to the same level in the market as Tommi Miettinen.

Miettinen is also currently without a Liiga club. According to Urheilucast, the duo forms the top of the coaching market.

Rautakorpi has extensive experience in the Liiga. He has served as head coach for teams including Lukko, Tappara, HPK, and JYP.

Throughout his career, the coach has achieved one Finnish championship and six SM-silver medals. Rautakorpi won the Finnish championship with Tappara in the spring of 2003.

Rautakorpi’s most recent Liiga position ended in December 2023, when JYP terminated his contract as head coach. At that time, he was leading the Jyväskylä team towards the playoffs.

In February 2024, Rautakorpi started as the temporary high-performance director for the Finnish Olympic Committee.
