In the league, Jukurit forward Niko Huuhtanen, 22, who achieved outstanding results in the 2023-24 season, is changing teams again.

Having started the season in the AHL and transferred to EHC Biel-Bienne in December, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 7th-round draft pick will not continue with the Swiss club next season. EHC Biel-Bienne announced this on their website on Saturday.

Huuhtanen, who scored 46 points in 52 games in his most recent Liiga season, had a year that was anything but successful. The player started the season in the AHL, where he only played five games. After that, the Finnish player was dropped to the ECHL and moved to Europe.

Ultimately, Huuhtanen only made it into Biel-Bienne’s playing lineup for 10 games, during which he recorded 2+1 points.

Expressen reported earlier that at least several SHL teams are on Huuhtanen’s trail.

Huuhtanen’s future team is expected to be revealed soon.
