Surprising news came from the NHL on Monday, as the San Jose Sharks announced they have released veteran forward Jeff Skinner, 33.

The Canadian winger has been placed on unconditional waivers with the intention of immediately terminating his NHL contract that guarantees a three million dollar annual salary.

Skinner, who has played 1100 regular season games in the NHL, joined the Sharks this season from the Edmonton Oilers. The former star forward has played 32 games this season with a total of 6+7=13 points.

In his career, Skinner has recorded 379+333=712 points in the NHL.
