Jokerit announces that they have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of forward Samuel Salonen, 26.
Salonen, who came from the club’s junior system, played a total of 69 Mestis regular season games for Jokerit over two seasons, with stats of 18+34. He played the latter half of the past season on loan in Sweden’s Allsvenskan with Oskarshamn IK.

Although the official statement spoke of a mutual agreement, there has been discussion suggesting that the departure may not be entirely unanimous.
On social media, there have been claims that the termination of the contract was not a completely “joint decision.” Salonen has removed content related to Jokerit from his Instagram profile and stopped following the club on IG.
Additionally, he posted a picture on Instagram stories after the contract termination, suggesting that his heart was broken by the decision.
