Lithuanian national team goalie Mantas Armalis has signed a contract with Tampereen Ilves for the remainder of the season.
The 33-year-old Armalis has represented the SHL team Leksands IF for the last three seasons. Born in Lithuania but having lived in Sweden since childhood, the 192-centimeter tall goalie has played a total of 250 regular season games and 18 playoff games in the SHL over nine seasons.
– Mantas Armalis brings more depth, experience, and competition to our goaltending department. He arrives in Finland tonight and will join our team tomorrow, says Ilves’ sports director Timo Koskela in a statement.
Armalis has also played in the AHL within the San Jose Sharks organization and during the 2017-18 season in the KHL with Latvian team Dinamo Riga.
